The Sisterhood
April 20 2009 |
I am sitting in the Salt Lake City Airport on my way back to Los Angeles after an AMAZING weekend in Atlanta. The circle of women I had the good fortune to work with are truly my sisters in all respects. Students of spirituality often speak of having found a family or a home outside of home. It is not some strange or cultish thing, rather the discovery of true connection, common interests and support! Today’s fractured personal relationships and Hollywood’s snapshots of family life have led to tremendous confusion and disappointment as we seek connection with others.
So what is spiritual family? It is the family you get to choose!
Many people have expressed their loyalty and devotion to their birth families, but in the same breath, say that if they were not related by blood, they would not have any desire to connect. Although this is not true for everyone, it is certainly a prevalent attitude. When people come together to grow, to seek spiritual empowerment and light, they find a special kinship with those around them.
The joy I feel as I visit with and share teachings with these extraordinary women is truly magickal. We laugh and cry together, argue and dance together. We have shared meals, stories and secrets.
And together, we are students of the mysteries and magicks of life!
Through my sisters I become a better and stronger individual. They keep me honest and remind me that I can always choose joy over sorrow.
My life is richer because I have known them.
Thank you!!!!!
