On Spiritual Contracts

It wasn’t until I began dreaming about having a child that I began to truly investigate the nature of Spiritual Contracts.  I wanted to understand their nature, where they really come from and why they are important.

Ancient teachings tell us we are all spiritual beings with only one physical lifetime to experience this planet.  Recognizing this, we spend hundreds of thousands of years in preparation for those short years here.  We study people, planetary systems and the nature of life itself, sometimes even remembering those people and places when we take physical form.

During our time as pure spirit, we develop relationships with other spirits, much like we do here.  Those relationships go beyond the scope of our physical understanding, rooted instead, in a deep spiritual bond.

Have you ever passed someone on the street or in the bookstore or laundry mat and recognized them yet knew you had never actually met?  If these encounters are pursued, both individuals would find a deep connection to a past spiritual emanation, or what some have come to define as a past life experience.

The key to understanding the purpose of these spiritual emanations or past lives, is that they make up a part of our spiritual history book, but they are not intended to be relived!  We are here to make our own, physical history rather than to re-experience an experience we had as a student of human behavior.  We are to use that past experience to make our physical life more empowered and productive!

During these emanations, however, we do develop strong bonds with other spiritual beings, all with the “assignment” to be born into the human physical world.  It makes sense, then that we choose to come into this life with some of the people with whom we have developed the deepest connections!

More evolved than this, we actually negotiate the nature of the relationships as we hope they will play out, setting ourselves up with a few safety nets just in case. . . We might set up two or three potential mate contracts in case our earthly circumstances prevent us from meeting one or another.  Or, if having met, we discover the choices played out are no longer supportive of the relationship in its purest original potential form.

We set up opportunities to meet and work with many others on the way, contracting relationships prior to being born:  counselors, teachers, friends, lovers, business partners and more.

Most spiritual contracts are totally renegotiable once we take physical form.  There are too many factors at play to think otherwise.  And unlike the business contracts with which we are familiar, there are no legal or spiritual ramifications to a “breech” of contract in these cases.  We are here to learn, and we choose the path by which to do so!

The contracts that don’t present much wiggle-room, however, are that of the mother and child, and of course, our contract with God.

Prior to “choosing” our parents, we have done thousands of hours of research and millions of hours of hands-on spiritual experience to determine our lineage, our bloodline.  We have chosen based on our positive experiences and the relationships we have established over a great deal of time.

The mother must agree to carry the child, and the child must agree to be carried by the mother.

Of course fathers have contracts as well!  And as a spiritual being, we carefully design both of our parental contracts based on the likelihood of those two people meeting and fulfilling the contract.

The bottom line is that we must be born.  We have to come into the physical to experience this life.  So there is a loophole in this type of contract as well.  Babies who cannot come into the physical via their original mother contract will come in through that lineage another way:  an aunt, cousin, sister. . . We will find our way!

But women with child contracts are drawn to bear children.  Many spiritually aware women know exactly how many and what gender they will someday hold in their arms!

This does not mean that every woman of child-bearing age should bear children.  Nor does it mean that victims of sexual crimes should be compelled to give birth should they become pregnant.

But babies don’t make mistakes.  In our spiritual essence, prior to dealing with all of the distractions we must face in the physical world, we are clear and totally connected to all things through time and space.  There is no confusion or emotional attachment to the physical or anything else!

As a being still connected to the source of all things, we fulfill all of our spiritual contracts without fear or expectation.

Once a physical being, we seek the path back to that place of spiritual peace and faith.
