On Awe
March 2 2010 |
Awe is defined as “an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration.” Its nature implies innocence, discovery and raw, unaffected emotion. It is the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual recognition of being touched by the Light, Magick and Mystery that both surround and radiate from within each of us. It is the key to understanding the Whys and Hows of this physical existence and what waits beyond it.
To be ‘in awe’ is often associated with the observation of a child making its first discoveries. The journey from childhood to adulthood, from unadulterated awe to scientific understanding is sadly designed to strip one from the other and creating an existence devoid of wealth, depth . . .and truth. For we can stand in awe and shine the light of that experience into our ability to understand, process and implement the information into the tangible awareness of ourselves.
“The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the source of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.” –Albert Einstein
Einstein equates the ability to allow awe, to connect to the emotion of it, as the ability to acknowledge that which is beyond the human mind’s power and intellect. God.
Truly, as we stand in our individual universes, creating our personal realities day after day, we are touched by the ‘sensation of the mystical’ if we are aware enough. We are struck with ‘awe’ and awakened on a spiritual level, and then on the physical level, just a little more by the experience. Herein, we are drawn closer to God.
Science and Mysticism coexist in the delicate balance of life, as all things coexist. Infuse Reason with Awe and connect to the Divine!
